PAKCON 2005 / call for volunteers

Call for Volunteers is open for PAKCON II.  Without a body of dedicated volunteers, one cannot really expect to organize a successful event, if at all.  PAKCON, as an event of some respectful caliber, is certainly no exception.

Applications for a very limited number of volunteers are being accepted.  Volunteers for the following tasks arranged in order of decreasing need are required:

  • Marketing

  • Communications

  • Event Management

Prior experience is not required off of volunteers.  Only their ability to do the task assigned and do it diligently will be taken into consideration.  Of course, any experience in organizing events similar to PAKCON will come in handy.

If you are interested, compose a plain-text e-mail, answering the following questions in the body of which, and send it to cfv@pakcon.org.

  1. Name?

  2. Postal, Mailing Address?

  3. Phone or Mobile Number?

  4. Email?

  5. Experience in organizing any events?

  6. Technical background and experience, such as in hardware, software, networking, audio-visual, etc?

  7. Which Operating Systems are you familiar with and use?

  8. Any related interests, skills, and available resources?

  9. Why would you want to be a part of the PAKCON team?

If you final exams fall in between the time PAKCON II is scheduled to take place, will you be able to manage your time in such manner as to actually give time to PAKCON?

Volunteers will receive:

  1. Waiver of registration fees. During free time when they are not working, volunteers will be able to attend briefings and other convention events.

  2. Due to space limitations, volunteers will not be able to attend trainings, unless they have paid registration fees to attend them, or are scheduled to work at them as room monitors or technicians.

  3. Breakfast and lunch on the days worked, and dinner at the convention banquet.

  4. Miscellaneous perks given to workers - each of the give away items included for participants (i.e. t-shirts, proceedings, etc.)

Volunteers will not receive travel assistance or travel reimbursement to and from the convention site.  We will try to create a working schedule which will allow volunteers free time to attend sessions they are particularly interested in, or to schedule the volunteer to work at that particular session. In order for this to happen, volunteers must review the convention agenda as soon as it becomes available, and send their schedule requests to the Volunteer Coordinator.
