GAMEHACK 2005 / gamehack

-[ GameHack '05

GameHack, as the name suggests, is a large-scale Gaming and Hacking event being organized this summer by PAKCON.  It involves a slew of gaming and hacking competitions.

GameHack will centre around three sub-events:  Gaming competitions, Hacking competitions; and Geek Party.  Each of these sub-events will be held side-by-side, guaranteeing house-packed entertainment.

If there is one network-oriented, multiplayer game that has continued to generate crowds of fanatics in the last few years, it is undoubtedly Counter Strike.  Everyone in the gaming world holds the view that a gaming event is essentially soulless if Counter Strike is not one of the games being hosted.  The gaming part of GameHack is ostensibly all Counter Strike.

Following rounds of tightly regulated league matches, teams will be promoted to a knockout series.  The winner of the knockout round will leave the arena with a mighty hefty cash prize.

As well as Counter Strike, one-on-one games, such as FIFA, etc, will also be organized, but only on consoles, such as PS2 and Xbox. Complete rounds will be scheduled for each console game, and winners will be awarded with attractive cash prizes.

If nothing else, perhaps, the major lustrous attraction to the gaming competitions is the lucrative amounts in cash prizes which will be given out to the winners.  Winners of the Counter Strike championship event will take away a grand prize of 100 thousand rupees.

More central to PAKCON as an underground hacking convention, a full-blown "Capture the Flag" (CtF) contest will also be held alongside the various gaming competitions.

Unlike last year, as many teams as are interested in participating will be allowed to sit in the arena and given a chance to both attack weakness in others' systems and defend their own systems against attacks from others.

Gamers are geeks; so are hackers.  And geeks love to party all night long.  To build a near perfect atmosphere in which geeks can have a pleasant and fun time, a Geek Party will be rolling on in one corner of the arena.

Heavy metal bands will be playing continually in one corner, attracting a crowd of head banging heavy-music lovers.

In corners of the arena, and for the first time in Pakistan's gaming history, large spectator screens will have been installed, which will keep the audiences thrilled with the proceedings of the events and display updated scores at any given time, allowing the viewers to see which teams are leading which games and by how many points.
